This worldwide survey has two goals: first of all, we want to identify the information and training needs of media professionals, secondly we want to compile a first current and global index of addresses journalists and media professionals - many colleagues in the whole world have asked us for such a specialised international address book. An index of this sort can indeed be a valuable tool to work with. It is meant to facilitate the direct exchange of information between colleagues in all parts of the world.

We ask you about two different types of data:
1. Some personal details (question 1): surname, forename, address, telephone number, fax number, e-mail and ISDN (*). These details are voluntary, you may also preserve your anonymity. Rest assured, your personal details will not be used for the statistical anf sociological evaluation. They are saved in a separate database.
You can of course choose whether your details should be included in the index of addresses or not (it will be published in 2001).
The address book will later be distributed within the IFEJ network and can also be sold on request.
If you answer the entire questionnaire, the index of addresses will be sent to you.

2. All other details will be separated from the personal details section and anonymised. They will be analyzed by the sociologist, the evaluation of the study will be distributed throughout the network of the IFEJ.
It is important that you should answer all 22 questions. When you have saved and sent a screen page by clicking CONTINUE, you cannot change your answers any more.

The whole project is supervised by the French data protection authorities CNIL (Commission Nationale Informatique et Liberté), in accordance with the legal provisions in France and Europe.
